It came in after eleven and worked at the house all night. Rain went at the glass in handfuls. It stopped, and then it went again. A door upstairs moved in its frame and never quite shut. Bo lay along the side of the bed with his eyes open. Every time the wind got under the slates he lifted his head, listened, and put it down again.
